All Lives Matter

Even though I wrote this poem last year, I felt it was needed in terms of school walkout for the Parkland school shooting in Florida.  It was peaceful and the students needed to be heard.

Lives Matter

Each day I hear

Violence

Brutality

Profiling

Injustice

Where do our lives matter?

We tried to handle it through

Protest

Marching

Community Awareness

Justice system

Where do our lives matter?

Instead

Protest turn into riots

Innocent lives being killed in the crossfire

No indictment

No peace

Where do our lives matter?

Our lives matter

When we realize

Who is to blame

Where did we go wrong

Why are we treated unfairly

Our lives matter

Where we have no choice

To seek better justice

Recreate our community

Reform our people

Our lives matter

Our lives matter

OUR LIVES MATTER

Where do we go from here?
